The Austrian-African Research Network Africa-UniNet was initiated to create a long-term, stable basis for cooperation between Austrian and African universities and research institutions. It intends to promote new contacts, deepen scientific cooperation and provide excellent opportunities for innovative joint research projects.

The 5th Call for Africa-UniNet Research Cooperation Projects was closed on 17 March 2025. The 4th General Assembly is scheduled to be held in 2026.

Supporting African Science and Tertiary Education (SASTE) Grant - 4th Call open until November 2025

The SASTE grant supports high potentials from Sub Sahara Africa working in the field of Agriculture, Forestry, Water Management, Renewable Energies, Nutritional Science, Human and Veterinary Medicine for a research stay in Austria. In case of strong involvement of Technical Sciences and IT in research projects of the mentioned fields, these areas of research are also eligible for application.
