Hope Africa University is a liberal arts university founded in 2000 and established in Bujumbura (Burundi) in 2003. Its moto is “Facing African realities”. Its mission is” To transform students for character development and service, through the provision of professional and academic programs, for the purpose of glorifying Christ and serving humanity”. The university has, for the 2019-2020 academic year, 3000 students, in 5 faculties divided in 21 departments, with 6 programs of Masters. The main programs are the faculty of Health Sciences with General Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Public health; and Engineering and Technology with Civil Engineering, Telecom Management and Computer Sciences. For maters programs, Nursing, Community Development, MBA, International Public Law, Educational Leadership and Theological Studies are organized. HAU has two teaching hospitals and a radio station. My name is Victor Barantota, born on 10 December 1972 at Bunyuka-Bukirasazi in the province of Gitega (Burundi). I am a burundian and married to Jeanine Ndihokubwayo (PhD in Statistics). I hold a PhD in Special Education (2016) from the Graduate School of Educational Sciences of Ankara University (Turkey). I have also a MA (2010) in French Didactics and a Licence (2001) in Applied Pedagogy (French), both from the University of Burundi. On professional side, I am rector of Hope Africa University since March 2017 with a contract as a permanent senior lecturer. I joined this university in 2004 as an assistant professor of french subjects until 2010 when I got a scholarship for PhD training from the Burundi-Turkey bilateral cooperation. In this position of rector, I am in charge of the university management and administration. I also represent the institution to the national officials, and national and international partners. I speak 5 languages: Kirundi, French, English, Swahili and Turkish.
