OUATTARA Allassane is Professor of Aquatic Biology and Ecology at Nangui Abrogoua University in Ivory Coast. He has spent the last twenty-two years conducting research on the ecology of continental waters (lakes, rivers, lagoons) and marine waters of West Africa, linking them to the different pressures that these aquatic environments are subject to (pollution, habitat degradation, overfishing, etc.). He also has extensive expertise in the taxonomy of freshwater, brackish and marine fish and algae from tropical Africa. Expert - Consultant to National and International Institutions (GEF, FAO, national and international consulting offices, NGOs, etc.), he has conducted several environmental assessment impact in the various aquatic ecosystems in West Africa such as Guinea, Liberia, Ivory Coast in various projects such as those of railway construction, mining, construction of hydroelectric dams, establishment of agro-food industries and expansion of port areas. His skills relating to environmental DNA for monitoring aquatic biodiversity have developed during several training courses with NatureMetrics, one of the world leaders in environmental DNA. These skills have been put to the service of tropical countries such as Ivory Coast and Guinea. He has coordinated several research projects and is the author and co-author of more than 100 articles published. He is currently the Director of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Department at Nangui Abrogoua University and Head of the Environment and Aquatic Biology Laboratory.
