Out of 51 submitted applications within the framework of the 6th call, 20 applications were selected after an external review process. This brings the total number of funded projects to more than 120 since Africa-UniNet was established in 2020.
The 20 selected projects of the sixth call comprise partnerships with institutions in 7 different countries in Africa: Ethiopia, Botswana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda.
The projects are financed by the BMFWF with a total funding amount of ca. 700,000 euros for a project duration of up to two years. The projects span a wide range of scientific fields, including chemistry, physics, renewable energy, environmental and earth sciences, sustainable agriculture and agroecology, medicine and health sciences, microbiology and biotechnology, food sciences, geoinformatics and data science, mathematics, educational and social sciences, as well as cultural studies and the arts.
They all share a cooperative and participatory approach, as well as the objective to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The names and partner institutions of the financed projects are listed below. The projects are currently in the contracting process and will start within the next months.
