Abstract:
With recent improvements in the field of nanotechnology, layered double hydroxides (LDHs)- based Nano systems have attracted an immense amount of attention. LDHs are favored due to their low cost, high stability, low toxicity, reusability, facile synthesis, anion exchange capacity, and easy surface modification. The combination of these materials with Graphene Oxide (GO) makes them very promising for cancer therapy, drug carriers, electrochemical sensors, electrocatalysts, and electrochemical water splitting. In addition, GO modified LDHs-based nano systems can be used as a highly efficient method to produce hydrogen and oxygen, water treatments, and greenhouse gas emissions reduction. Through this project, Graphene oxide (GO) modified LDH-based nano-systems will be prepared by different methods, and characterized using several techniques, such as X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Auger-Meitner electron spectroscopy (AES), thermal analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM/TEM), and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX). The optimized GO modified LDHs based nano-systems can be used it in different applications. These applications are (1) environmental fields (degradation of several pollutants like dyes, organic and biomedical residues); (2) as catalysts for water splitting and energy production and storage.
